Ida Cuccia

Obituary of Ida Ann Cuccia

Ida Anne Cuccia

Ida was born in Cassino, Italy on October 16, 1938.  She was the youngest of four children.  Her father was in America preparing for the family to join him when WWII broke out.  Ida tells stories of hiding in the foxholes and her mother dressing her brother up as a nun to save him from having to join the war.  An American Soldier rescued her and her family and put them on a cargo ship headed to America.

They landed at Ellis Island in 1945 and she always remembered the Statue of Liberty as the first thing she saw.  She finally met her father at the age of 7 and lived in Long Island City until she met her husband, Dennis in an elevator of the Empire State Building.  They married six weeks later when she was only 23 years.

Her Robbie came along several years later and Ida had the family she always wanted.  They eventually moved to New Jersey where she became a very successful business woman.  She was in real estate and banking as a professional and loved to practice interior design in her free time.  She created a beautiful home for her family and helped many friends do the same.

Her last year in Santa Barbara she spent with Robb and Faith and although she was very ill she enjoyed making amazing meals, hosting parties, making new friends and enjoying the view of the ocean.

Ida touched the lives of everyone she met and will be dearly missed.
