Obituary of Kenneth T. Kurozumi
On March 7,2014 our beloved brother lost his battle with cancer.
He was born December 3, 1933 in San Luis Obispo where he attended
Emerson School until the outbreak of World War II where he was
evacuated to an internment camp in Poston, Arizona.
After the war, the family settled in Santa Barbara where he
attended Lincoln School, Santa Barbara Jr. High School, and Santa
Barbara High School. After graduating, he enlisted in the USNavy and
was stationed in San Diego, Adak, Alaska, and in Sasebo, Japan where he
met many relatives.
Upon returning to Santa Barbara, Ken worked 38 years for the US
Post Office at the main office, Milpas office and managed the Montecito office.
After retirement, Ken volunteered faithfully at the Cottage
Rehabilitation Hospital and thoroughly enjoyed interacting with all the
patients. He enjoyed life to the fullest - fishing, golfing, bowling, making
origami birds, and doing jigsaw puzzles. He was an active member of the
SBBuddhist Church where he served as treasurer.
Ken is survived by his sisters: Janet Fukumura (Tom), Helen
Kurozumi, niece Jennifer Reyes (Joe), and nephew Glen Fukumura (Liz).
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to SB
Buddhist Church or Cottage Rehabilitation Hospital.
Your thoughts and prayers are greatly appreciated. Ken's wish
was that no services be held; however, he felt very fortunate to have
known so many who filled his life with joy and happiness.
