Obituary of Jane R. Gabriel

Born and raised in South Amboy, New Jersey, Jane was the daughter of Phineas and Marion Magee. She married Vincent A. Gabriel in 1946 and during their 66 year marriage lovingly raised six children, living in New Jersey, California, Connecticut and Cape Cod. Jane and her husband returned to Santa Barbara in 2004. She was an accomplished artist and decorator, and a lover of music, animals and nature. All who knew her will miss her wry sense of humor, good nature, gentleness and wonderful smile. Jane is survived by her husband, Vincent, sons Vincent A. Gabriel, Jr. (Lee) and Nicholas Gabriel (Jean), daughters Jane Schnier (Brian), Eleanor Kiunke (Ty), Marianne Conway (Tom) and Amie Gabriel, 10 grandchildren and 7 great-grand children, and her brother, Gerald Magee. Jane's family sincerely thanks Slava Prykhitko, Administrator/LVN at Absolute Residential Care and his dedicated staff, Drs. Erno Daniel and Robert Harbaugh, as well as VNA-Hospice for their excellent and compassionate care. Chapel and graveside services will be held on Monday, August 20 at 11:00 a.m. at the Santa Barbara Cemetery, 901 Channel Drive, Santa Barbara, CA 93108 In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Visiting Nurse and Hospice Care of Santa Barbara or the Alzheimer's Association.
