Obituary of Cynthia Ricci

A kind, loving and generous mother, grand mother, sister & friend. Cindy was born in Summit, N.J. on October 15, 1944. Before moving to Santa Barbara in 1955, Cindy and her family lived in Sarasota, Florida. Cindy attended Hope Elementary School, La Cumbre Jr. High and was part of the graduating class of San Marcos High School who attended all four years. She was a cheerleader and took pride in being part of selecting the school color, name and song. After graduating from San Marcos in 1962 she briefly attended Stephens College in Missouri and then went to College of Idaho where she met Steve Ricci, who she married in 1966. They had three sons, Steve (Victoria), Shawn and Brian (Megan) and nephew Rob (Nicole). Meemaw was dearly loved by her eight grandchildren, Zach, Austin, Chloe, Trevor, Brooklyn, Sawyer, Brody and Hannah. Cindy was an avid reader, bridge player and shopper who will be sorely missed by her many friends. Cindy devoted many years and countless hours to her volunteering at Transition House, Assistance League of Santa Barbara, Goleta Boys' Club and numerous PTA boards. Cindy passed away peacefully on June 12, 2012, surrounded by her family. Cindy's sister, Patty Brians (Mike), was her best friend and they spent many years raising their children together. Cindy spent many years laughing, traveling and enjoying life with both Patty and her other sister Bonnie (Bob), who lived in San Diego. A Celebration of Life will be at the home of Steve & Victoria Ricci on Monday, June 18 th at 4PM at 4421 Nueces Drive. In lieu of flowers, Cindy requested that donations be made to Goleta Valley South Little League (GVSLL) to help fund their new playground. Cindy spent many afternoons cheering on her grandsons at the field.
